Fall 2026 Out of Virginia talks/interview
University of Lynchburg
I've enjoyed talking with various groups around Central Virginia this fall about my book and the amazing emigrants to Liberia from in and around Lynchburg, most recently at Jones Memorial Library as well as the Nelson County Historical Society; the Lynchburg Morning Rotary Club; and the Lynchburg Antiquarians. Here's a link to my next talk, a lecture at the University of Lynchburg on Nov. 5, including an interview with me about some of my motivations for writing the book.
Jones Memorial Library has also posted a video of my Oct. 14 talk there, “Leaving America Behind: Lynchburg Colonization Society,” part of the library's Fall 2026 “LYH Long Ago” John D. Owen Jr. History Series. youtu.be/qNHpoWfLxjY
